5) On google classroom, complete the attached document "The Fight to Vote" summary of key events.

Math Personal Trainer Practice 1.5 - 1.8

Using My Portal, open the Think Central Application. 

Login with lunch number and password. 

Click on "Things to Do" and scroll to find and complete Assignments 1.5, 1.6, 1.7, and 1.8. 

  • The assignments are out of order. You will need to scroll and flip through pages to find the assigned lessons. 

After each question, click "Check Answer" before clicking "Next". 

After finishing each lesson, click "Turn it In"

After completing all 4 personal trainer lessons “mark as done” in Google Classroom. 

Quick Write #2

Agree or Disagree? Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Imagination is more important than knowledge. Explain your position (opinion).

  • Please answer the prompt in paragraph form. This is an opinion writing assignment, so there is no wrong answer as long as you defend your opinion. It may help to gather some research on both topics before choosing a side.

  • We have learned that there are many people who have fought for freedoms around the world, for example: Martin Luther King Jr., Susan B. Anthony, and Alice Paul. Other than these three, who else can you think of that has fought for the freedoms of others around the world? Include who they are, what freedoms they fought for, who they wanted to help and why. You will need to do some research in order to complete this 5 paragraph essay.

Go to My Portal, and click on the Application, “Brainpop”. 

Search for “Daylight Saving Time”

1. Watch the video

2. Take the graded quiz

3. Go to Related Reading and read one of the articles:

  • Did You Know?, Around the World, Quirky Stuff, or Way Back When

4. Using attached Google Form, answer the questions.

  • In your own words, paraphrase two different things you’ve learned about Daylight Saving Time.
    • Cite your source (movie or article) where you found your information.
  • State which two states don’t participate in Daylight Saving Time, and why?
  • In your opinion, do you think California should/should not participate in Daylight Saving Time? Why or why not?

  • Click the 1st slide to go to the 2nd slide, then choose an Avenger.
  • Complete that hero’s physical activity, then click on the “Select a new Hero”.
  • Do at least 5 hero’s exercises. 
  • Using, the attached Google Doc:
  • List the 5 Avenger exercises you did. 
  • Of the five, tell me which one you liked the best and why.

Some of the assignments this week are new sites/applications which may take your child longer to navigate. Most problems will be fixed by using their MyPortal login a second time at the site. If your child has any questions, please have them reach out on Google Classroom and I will respond to it there. Remember these assignments are still optional for your child to do, but will help them for when we start digital learning after Spring Break.

Please answer the following prompt in paragraph form. This is a creative narrative story. It may be written from a 1st or 3rd person point of view. It should have: a beginning, middle, end, problem, solution, and dialogue. Please use your imagination and write an interesting story. 

Prompt: Imagine you’re a superhero on your day off. You just want to have a relaxing day, but you get called to the rescue for a silly request. What was the silly request? What happens next? Describe the scene.

Respond (reply) to someone else’s answer to the question. 

-In order to ensure that everyone has a response to their answer, you must find a classmate to reply to who doesn’t have a response yet. If everyone has a reply, then you may choose anyone to respond to. There is a limit to the replies you may give. You may respond to only 1-3 classmates.

-You may add to their answer, ask a clarifying question, give a positive comment, or give a counter-argument.

-You may not be negative towards a person or their answer to the question.
